The Top 5 Things to do in Auckland

Auckland is usually your first destination in New Zealand, and many people decide to leave without taking advantage of what the city really has to offer. Here are our top five to keep you there:

1. Take a 35 minute ferry over to Waiheke Island – It’s blessed with spectacular views, wineries around every corner, and private beaches to soak up the sun. It’s definitely worth a day trip from Auckland and you can rent a scooter to see the entire island. Trust me. Go.

2. Visit the French Market in Parnell – Parnell is a beautiful neighborhood in Auckland full of cafe’s, shopping, and markets. Every Wednesday night they host a French Market where you can buy cheeses, wine, artisan breads, and pastries. It’s delicious so bring your appetite along with your wallet.

4. Set sail in Auckland Harbour – Every Friday afternoon (be there by 3 pm) the owners of hundreds of sailboats get together for the Rum Races. You can volunteer to help out on one of the boats, regardless of your experience. Not only do you get to sail for free, you have the chance to win one of three bottles of rum.
